Important up-date regarding COVID-19 and self isolation
Update on Self-Isolation Requirements for COVID-19
As you will be aware the requirements for self-isolation due to confirmed cases of COVID-19 have changed and this term the procedures for schools are very different to those we needed to follow before the summer holidays. This is a brief update for your information.
Schools are no longer responsible for identifying close contacts of anyone with a confirmed infection; this will be undertaken by NHS Test and Trace. We are therefore not responsible for informing people they must self-isolate. Schools may be contacted to assist Test and Trace in exceptional circumstances.
You are no longer required to self-isolate if you live in the same household as someone with COVID-19, or are a close contact of someone with COVID-19, if any of the following apply:
- you are fully vaccinated
- you are a child or young person below the age of 18 years and 6 months
- you have taken part in or are currently part of an approved COVID-19 vaccine trial
- you are not able to get vaccinated for medical reasons
Instead, you will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace, informed you have been in close contact with a positive case and advised to take a PCR test. We would encourage all individuals to take a PCR test if advised to do so.
Only individuals (adults and children) who test positive themselves or close contacts who are unvaccinated adults need to self-isolate routinely.
As a result, primary school pupils are no longer required to self-isolate, even if a member of their household has tested positive for COVID-19.
If a child in school tests positive, other pupils and staff who are fully vaccinated are not required to self-isolate and will continue to attend school.
It is important that you continue to inform us if your children test positive as we need to keep the Local Authority informed of infection rates and there are further measures we need to take in school if infection rates in the school start to rise.
Most importantly if children are unwell please do not send them to school, if they have COVID-19 symptoms please book them a PCR test and inform us of the outcome.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
Caroline McKay (Headteacher)
Free Lunch for Ivybridge Estate Residents Thursday 28th October
The Hounslow community team would like to talk to Ivybridge residents at the Bridgelink Centre on Thursday 28th October at 1.30pm.
We want to introduce ourselves and hear from residents about how they would like to improve life on the estate. Let us know about what is working well, what you would like to see in the future or tell us about anything else that concerns you. The more people attend the better understanding we can get about what matters to you and the more good ideas we can take forward, so let your neighbours know about the meeting! Some of our team are current or former residents of Ivybridge and we all want to do our very best for the area.
Please text or call 07976 638412 to book a place at the meeting and free lunch, this will be first come, first served.
We look forward to seeing you there!

The club is for children in Year 1 up to Year 6 who can already peddle a bicycle – it is not for complete beginners! The club builds on the skills pupils already learn as part of our cycling programme in school.
The club is being delivered by The Bicycle Society (the children will know the instructors as they deliver lessons in school) and all equipment is provided. Pupils at our school are being offered this club for £15 for the 6 weeks (normally £35), places are limited so please book quickly!
To book please click here for the Bicycle Society Website – only those who have booked in advance will be able to attend.

Important message to Parents/Guardians
An important message to parents/guardians from Hounslow’s Director of Public Health, Kelly O’Neill: “We’re currently seeing a significant increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in our schools across the borough which is causing a great deal of disruption for teachers, parents/guardians and children. Approximately 50% of our cases in Hounslow involve children under 19, with the majority of those cases involving 10-19 year olds. My team is doing everything it can to help the school community stop this on-going transmission as quickly as possible. But there are some important, practical, steps everyone can take to enable children to keep learning in the classroom and to stop the spread: I would urge you to please keep testing twice a week using ‘rapid’ LFT tests if you don’t have COVID-19 symptoms. If you do have COVID-19 symptoms, please get a PCR test as soon as possible. Regular testing is the quickest way to identify if you have the virus so that you can self-isolate if required. I would also encourage you to continue wearing a face covering if you can, especially in crowded areas, including on public transport. Together, all of these things will help to reduce transmission in the wider community.
“The NHS vaccination service has asked secondary schools across the borough to obtain consent from parents/guardians to vaccinate 12-15 year old children. Remember – it’s not too late to get vaccinated yourself, so if you haven’t yet come forward for your first and/or second COVID-19 vaccine, please take a look at our website: www.hounslow.gov.uk/coronavirus where you can find lots of detailed information as well as your nearest vaccination site. If you have any questions, please get in touch with me and my team at: publichealth@hounslow.gov.uk We’re here to help.”
