We would like to wish all of our families who will be celebrating tomorrow a Very Happy Diwali.
What to do if your child has symptoms of COVID-19
Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive this term, we are very thankful that so far the school hasn’t been too badly disrupted by COVID-19 and we are hoping it stays that way. Please help to keep us all safe by following advice and keeping to the restrictions of the current lockdown.
Kind regards,
Caroline McKay (Head Teacher)
What to do when your child is showing possible COVID-19 symptoms
If your child is unwell please do not send them to school. You must contact us straight away and let us know what their symptoms are.
If your child has any symptoms of COVID-19 you should arrange for them to be tested as soon as possible. They must stay at home and so must everyone who lives in your home – do not send brothers and sisters to school.
Contact us with the test result as soon as you receive it.
If the test is negative your child can return to school and everyone else in your home can also return to school and work.
If the test is positive your child must remain at home for 10 days from when they became unwell, the rest of your household must remain at home for 14 days from when your child became unwell. If anyone else develops symptoms, they must be tested too. Please let us know the results of any tests.
If you are unsure of what to do please contact us and we will advise you or direct you to another service which can help.
If anyone who lives in your home has any symptoms of COVID-19 everyone who lives with you must stay at home, do not send children to school if adults or brothers and sisters have symptoms. Contact us straight away and arrange for tests as soon as possible.
Keeping Safe Over Half Term
We have been asked by Public Health to remind everyone to follow social distancing rules during half term as COVID-19 cases locally are continuing to rise. There are an increasing number of people being admitted to hospital. Please remember that you cannot socialise with other households indoors so, during half term, children must only play with their friends outside in parks. We have been very fortunate to have only had one positive case in school this half term so thank you to everyone for sticking to the rules and keeping everyone safe. Have a safe and happy half term!
Feedback from parents
A Huge Thank You to All Our Families!
We just wanted to say a huge thank you to all our families for being so supportive this half term and making so much effort to ensure that the children are attending school regularly despite the current situation.
So far this term 3 classes have achieved 100% attendance for whole weeks. These are Mercury with 100% attendance for 5 out of 6 weeks, Apollo for 3 out of 6 weeks and Saturn also for 3 out of 6 weeks. Well done to all of you that is amazing!
Currently our overall attendance is much higher than the average for all schools across the borough and last week our attendance was 98.8% – so nearly perfect from everyone.
It has been lovely to have all the children back at school; they have settled back in so well and have worked very hard to make up for missing the summer term. Well done to everyone!
Have a lovely half term next week – keep safe and we look forward to another successful half term before Christmas.
Bike to School Week 2020
Well done to Geeta – Year 3, Leena – Year 2, Aarave – Year 2 and Asmaa – Year 6 for the best cycle helmet design for ‘Bike to School Week’.
Thank You for Your Support
Thank you to all parents and carers who have been so supportive by following the new arrangements for drop off and pick up this term, despite some initial hiccups it all seems to be working fairly smoothly.
The new traffic system has also made it so much safer for everyone at the start and the end of the day, please comply with the restrictions otherwise you risk being fined. If you are driving to school and parking elsewhere on the estate please do so safely and considerately.
To keep us all safe please continue to maintain social distancing as far as is possible on the school site and outside of the school, we are beginning to see groups congregating at the gate and along the road before and after school. Some of our neighbours are reporting that they are being disturbed by noisy conversations first thing in the morning, please be considerate of them on your way in and out.
From Monday 21st September Nursery and Reception children will come into school through the playground gate used by Yr1 and 2. Please remember that the gates are open for extended times at the start and end of the day. In the mornings you have 20 minutes (8.40-9am) to arrive at school, please try not to all arrive at once. Afternoon school doesn’t finish until 3.15pm although you can collect your child anytime from 3pm onwards.
It has been lovely to see you all again and have all the children back at school, hopefully by working together we can continue to keep our community safe.

Car Drivers – please read!
After many years of experiencing difficulty with traffic at the front of the school in the morning and afternoon on Monday 7th August a new traffic management scheme will begin operation along the road leading to the school. Only cars belonging to residents of this road will be able to access the road at the start and end of the school day. Click here to see the flyer with further information. If you travel to school by car you must park at the top of the road and walk the last part to school, if you are not a resident of the road and you do drive to the school you will receive a fine. For more detailed information about the scheme please click here.
